What is your favorite thing about yourself?
Wow, I tend to have a hard time with things like this. But I think my favorite thing I like about myself is that I am a lover of people. I love how God created us to be so unique from the way we look to the way we think. I find diversity to be one of the most beautiful things I could ever imagine coming up with. My favorite thing about me is how God made me have eyes to see all people uniquely and beautifully made.
What do you love most about Colorado?
I love the weather here in Colorado. It is the most gorgeous state to live in because the seasons are so diverse and within any given day you can experience all the weathers!
What made you want to start Soul 2 Sole, and what advice would you give yourself now, if you could go back to the day it started?
I started S2S because I had a conversation with God about it. God spoke into my spirit that dance needed to be redeemed. For me to do something significant with dance, it needed to be about glorifying Him. Advice I would give to my younger self would be to walk confidently in the things God has shown you.
What has been your favorite season the Lord has brought you through, what did you learn?
God is such an awesome father. I can speak of many many seasons He has brought me through and each was significant and special. I think the one I immediately think about is a few years ago He asked Ben & I to move our family to Seattle. Unbeknownst to us we were on a journey of a lifetime. He was making room for real goodness. We needed to clean out some difficult baggage to make space for incredible things God wanted to give us. During that time we spent our freedom on clinging to God and our family.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Everywhere. I want to see dance all across the globe and connect a movement as one body.
If you could speak to a room full of young leaders aspiring to fulfill their God given purpose, what advice or truth would you speak to them?
Being a leader has less to do with being the one in front, on stage or even having a platform to speak from. It has more to do with being a servant to those in front of you. When you think like that you can impact so much better than if you think, 'I must be the best and thus am set apart.'
Find God in all you do. He's there. I think of it a little like Where's Waldo. It's a funny thought I know, but God is in plain site everywhere we go. We just have to look through the loud colors, past the crowd, and understand his patterns to see he's standing right in the midst of our chaotic life. The Bible says it like this,
"The kingdom of heaven is like a [very precious] treasure hidden in a field,
which a man found and hid again; then in his joy he goes and sells all he has
and buys that field [securing the treasure for himself]." - Matthew 13:44
