WOW - Wednesday - Rachel
You are a breath of fresh air. A unicorn. Your kindness is genuine. You never fail to bring a silver-lining to any situation. You are lovely + intelligent. We are grateful for the grace + beauty that you generously share with this dance company.
I feel like God wants you to know that your value is more than you can imagine. He loves surprising you with wonders He has made just for you. It is intangible the amount of love multiplied because you are here in this world.
*(hiccup) +God Bless YOU!
What word do you think of when you put dance and faith together? Explain.
Wholehearted. For me, faith and art are two of the most core parts of who I am. I would be doing myself a disservice if I attempted to compartmentalize one from the other. My worldview informs how I interact with every other facet of my life. Approaching the artistic process through this lens allows me to create from a deeply true and inspired place.
What can you tell me about your enneagram ?
First of all, the enneagram is incredible. In short, it’s a personality profiling method that categorizes personalities into 9 unique, fluid types. It’s amazing. Check it out. [end enneagram plug. lol] Within that profiling method, I am a number 4 with what they call a 5 “wing”. This type is often called “The Individualist”, “The Romantic”, or “The Bohemian.” 4’s on the enneagram have a basic desire of being deeply known, being authentic, and creating an identity out of their inner experience. They tend to be uniquely creative, often feel like they are missing something in themselves, but can’t necessarily identify what it is, and are deeply integrated with their emotions. It goes into much more depth than that, and I could go on for DAYS, but I won’t. I highly recommend people check it out though! It’s been deeply enlightening for me.
If you were on a deserted island and you had to choose just one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
When I was a kid, I would ask my mom to make me the same meal almost every year for my birthday. It was a chilled cucumber avocado soup, steak with blue cheese butter, asparagus, and her homemade crème brulee. If I could eat that every day for the rest of my life, I think I’d be pretty stinkin’ happy.
Sum up your style in words.
My “style” is probably “How can I remain the most comfortable while sometimes kind of I guess trying to also sort of be cute?” It usually involves flannel, some simple jewelry, maybe lipstick if I’m feeling sassy, and a pair of Toms or something. lol
What superhero's powers would you like to have?
I’m not really sure. Is there a superpower that allows one to only eat ice cream and yet somehow gain all necessary nutrients for sustaining life? If so, I want that one!
What scripture do you hold onto most in hard times?
Romans 8:38-39: For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The knowledge of the depth and vastness of God’s love just grows deeper as I grow older.
What scripture or words do you feel God has for you personally?
I have a tendency to dwell on things and allow them to be this ever-looming weight over me. I’m a bit of a worrier…and sometimes that leaves me feeling hopeless about situations and how God could possibly intervene within them. But when that bleakness threatens to overtake, I’m reminded of a prayer from Fr. Luis Espinal my pastor quoted in a sermon about a year and a half ago. It goes as follows:
“Train us, Lord, to fling ourselves upon the impossible, for behind the impossible is your grace and your presence; we cannot fall into emptiness. The future is an enigma, our road is covered by mist, but we want to go on giving ourselves, because you continue hoping amid the night and weeping tears through a thousand human eyes.”
Not only am I had and held in God, but He’s there in the thick of it with me.
